Denton Civic Square

Former Market Place, Denton
Denton Civic Square is close to the town centre of Denton at Crown Point. It was built on the site of the original market place on the west side of Stockport Rd. On the north and south sides it is bounded by Victoria and Albert Streets, respectively, and on the west side by Market St.

The square was officially opened on the 7 Nov 2008 by Councillor Martin Wareing, who represented Denton's North East Ward, in the presence of the Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Jack Davis, and the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Carole Davis.

Denton Market Place on the occasion of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee held on the 22 Jun 1897 and her accession was on the 20 Jun 1837.
